I finally finished painting a Munny figurine for a friends sister’s sweet 16..

Started early last night and finished it up today around 1pm.. and at the last minute.. everything that could have possibly gone wrong.. went wrong.

Too humid for paint to dry.. and gloss.

munny tippy over while drying…the back end sticking to newspaper and peeling off..

re-painting and re-gloss for the 6,321,335,449,090,765,711.21 time

and painting a 16 years old face .. gets hard as hell.

then painted th take out box as a gift box*..

* graphic design comping hella paid off!

and done.

Headed out to Fremont and dropped it off..

Headed out to SFMOMA with a few of my favorite guys for a book signing with David Choe.

Dropped $45 on it and waited in line.

In front of us was one of Bryant’s instuctors for CCA, Barron Storrey who I found out drew the cover for Lord of the Flies… (I never got around to reading back in high school), along with his lovely wife.

We all chatted about art and what schools we all go to as well checking out Francis’ blackbook.

Storrey’s wife suggested that he hit up Francis’ book!

He got himself a self portrait! Preety sweet.

Got my JUXTAPOZ issue #72 (Jan07) signed along with the book and sketchbook.

Ended the night with chowing down McDonalds on Market st. Then headed back to Union City.

It was a good night.

SKETCH||4||SKETCH TOUR SF

A little overdue but i finally got around to unpacking a few sketches and drawings back from the Academy. Packed away with my icon studies, grids, and loads of pretty vellum paper from my graphic design class, I found the sketches I got from the Sketch 4 Sketch tour which hit SF on May 5th.

That morning, along with my roommate Kristine, we headed out to Upper Playground and waited in line with a good 20 some folks in front of us.

Made friends with the guys behind us.

Spotted Jeremy Fish pull in and entertained curious little passerby’s.

After waiting for about 2 hours we finally got through.

I got some motivating words, inspiration and major comfort after Mr. fish said he can see me in the future.

While in line, we spotted Sam Flores heading into the shop and asked for sketch as well.

Hands down, it was an epic day.

El Mac

This past Thursday went out to Fifty24SF to check out El mac’s show wit my friends Gaelan.

it was pretty nice.

got my Juxtapoz subscription issue No. 103 signed as well as his and Retna’s book.

Afterwards we headed out to downtown Redwood City t was watch Ironman outdoors for free. which goes on every Thursday night around 8:30pm.

A few misc. updates:

Got the new Julian Plenti album this Tuesday, Julian Plenti…. is Skyscraper.

sigh. great. Paul Banks look hot .

Bryant, Dominic and I’s reception is this Saturday at Paddy’s from 8pm till 2am.

Long overdue

Probably a month plus back my cousin Ameena, who moved here from Philly, went out to the North Beach Festival.
Great environment. A lot of people. Good alcohol.
The next we also hit up the Haight street festival which, in my opinion, wasn’t as fun.. since there were no drinks or a field to lay on.
here’s just a few of the many pics we took.. like three.

Theeee best part was running in Mr. Jeremy Fish. Had to take a photo and meet him evern though he was there hanging out with his GF.
 Pictures and updates were long overdue.. but anywhoo..
A lot of thing are going on.
First art show at Paddy’s (???) in august :/ sounds exciting .. but rushed.
I have been enjoying Adobe Illustrator and the class… especially sitting in my row with Gaelan and Monica.
A few days ago Bryant, Gaelan, and I went to  Full Deck : display of skateboard art in Walnut Creek. Amazing show. cute guys.
Slmost  had a second OMG! Mike Giant moment.. minus actually seeing him.. but him, along with some work by Jeremy fish,  Todd Francis, Usugrow, Takashi Murakami and many many other, had pieces up.
We met  Ken Davis also one of the many artists there.
Dude is from Fremont, grew up around Niles district and goes to Ohlone and recently was in ceramics.  It was soo amazing and exciting talking to him an telling him we’re from the same area. We also met another artist from Niles. Matt136, he too also had great pieces.
Took pics but they are on my phone.
not much else..
I’ve been enjoying being home alone  for three days kind of going back and forth between the two houses.
It’s been hot and I’ve lost two baby doves due to this heat.
enjoying my summer with computer graphics and the occasional trips out to Santana Row, Walnut Creek, Downtown Pleasaton, and Fremont wiht my friend Gaelan, and
you should Bruno.

I’m not going to be havin access to the internet for about a week. So right now I’m posting through my blackberry. A lot of updates! from the North Beach festival which was last week and the Haight street festival which was last sunday, to paddy’s sharing of the arts and a live painting coming up soon. Other little updates includes moving to the new house here in tracy, getting my prize money and spending it, and hopefully starting another summer semester at ohlone taking computer graphics. Sorry for the delay.

A Few Updates

I know… I’ve been hella slacking on updating through here.. but here we go.
i’ll start with my friends Francis Ramos’s 21st birthday bash.
Bryant, Dean, and I headed out to Francis’s place .. about 4 hours after the party initially started.. sorry.
im guessing we were the only few who were  sober. Haha made me kind of feel like i should re-do my 21st.
Anywhoo. Dean made an amazzzing chocolate cake for Francis based off of his Nikon D60, and Bryant and I painted a few “paintings” for it with food coloring. Fun as fuck.
we also gave him a some of our art as gifts.



A few days later Dean, Curtis, Bryant and I checked out Dominic’s piece at the student art show at the Academy Of Art University on Brannan st. in SF.

Amazing talent. So many mediums. Definitely inspiring.
The line was ridicously long. but we got in.

This is Dominic’s piece ‘Elephunk’ in ceramic.
this was just a  very small amount. there were so many other great pieces.
Then..
A few days later Bryant Gaelan (our friend from sculpture) took us out on a 10 mile bike ride starting from the Bay bridge to the Golden Gate bridge then back on a ferry.
we passed the Exploritorium, the dome, the marina


We’re on a boat.


It was a magical ride on ferry. We had the wind in our hair, beautiful scenery, and dolphins.
The cruise ship there dumped a whole bunch of folks on Embarcadero.. and it was not all that fun to ride through that crowd.
Not much went on after that.
signed up for the Sharing of the Arts 2009 with two pieces..
and sketched a few more…


Almost forgot…
This was my pet for a day. Finley. Gaelan and i picked him up in plesanton  in front of a flower shop. some guy sad we could have him for free.. just like that. and after some short contemplating.. i took him home..
3 month old lab and something short mix.. He is a lot heavier than my  year old terrier, but they got along great. But he wasn’t a keeper since I am not home most of the time.. so took him out to sculpture and Jen from our class offered to take him since she was looking for a puppy..
In a great home and now named George..after George Harrison.

And my baby dove died.. :/ this week.
I have  11 adult doves if anyone is interested in wanting some. lol  srsly.
